it's easy to give when we know we will have some left over for ourselves. a percentage of our money to charity, a portion of the food we made to the neighbours, the sandwich that turned out to not be halal to the homeless person. then i remember the sahabah who gave up every penny for the sake of Allah. how RasulAllah ﷺ gave away the very cloak off his back despite his need for it. how many of us could spare the coats we wear while outdoors despite having multiple others in our wardrobes? i wonder if this level of Birr could possibly exist nowadays. at what point does it become foolishness i ask? could it even be called that when we are meant to have Tawwakul in the fact that whatever is given up for His sake will be replaced by better? just some thoughts
